HON. MR. JUSTICE MARSHAL UMUKORO
Chief Judge, Delta State
Hon. Justice Marshal Umukoro, was born on May 24th, 1956 to the family of Umukoro in Ekiugbo in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. He attended St. Thomas R.C.M. School, Benin City (1961 – 1966); St. Ambrose College, Usiefrun (1968 – 1972); Institute of Continuing Education, Benin City (1975 –1976); University of Jos, Jos (1976 – 1980) and Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos (1980 – 1981).
He started his career as a Clerical Assistant at the Magistrate Court, Orerokpe in February, 1973 and Accounts Clerk, Auchi Polytechnic, Benin Branch, in March, 1975 before he obtained his LLB at the University of Jos in 1980. He was called to the Bar in 1981 and served as a State Counsel (NYSC), Ministry of Justice, Kano State between September 1981 and July 1982. Between July, 1982 and December 26, 1985, he was into Private Practice at Y.M. Na-Allah & Co. Katsina Road, Kano State.
On December 27, 1985. Hon. Justice Umukoro was sworn-in as Magistrate 2 under the Bendel State Judiciary where he served and rose to become a High Court Judge. In the course of his service to the Judiciary, Hon. Justice Umukoro headed several Judicial Committees. He has also contributed largely to the National Jurisprudence.
He was appointed Chief Judge of Delta State in May, 2015 to date. He was also appointed as Member, National judicial Council in 2017 to date.
Hon. Justice Umukoro has attended several workshops and seminars around the globe. He has to his credit, numerous awards. He is also a member of some notable professional and social bodies.
His hobbies are reading, football, music, driving, philanthropy and writing.
