Let me use the opportunity provided by  this special occasion to extend our gratitude to the Almighty God for the privilege of witnessing the end of yet another year. The year 2020 has been unique in many ways, throwing up some daunting challenges which tested (and still test) our collective will and resilence as a people.
We in the National Judicial Council are not an exception.  As a community, we all did our best not only to preserve our individual health and safety but also to project the image of the council and enhance its capacity to execute its mandate despite the aforesaid challenges.
May I therefore use this opportunity to appreciate all of you,  my dear colleagues, for your understanding, resilence and industry during these trying times.
Let me also admonish you to remain  conscious of your security and health as you celebrate this year's Xmas and New Year festivities. Be reminded that the dreaded Covid-19 is reportedly having another spike which calls for more circumspection on our part .
As a Council, we will continue to pursue pragmatic policies to protect you  from the pandemic by continuing to place high premium on your health and welfare within the limits of our resources.
I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2021.
