Hon. Justice Massoud Abdulrahman OREDOLA, JCA (Rtd.) was born on the 6th day of February, 1949. He has dedicated over four and half decades to the legal profession, demonstrating exceptional services in various esteemed positions. He commenced his career as a Legal Practitioner, Sharia Consultant and Notary Public, gaining extensive experience across Nigeria. He served on the Sharia Court of Appeal Bench, Kwara State Judiciary, Ilorin for more than a decade. His international experience includes serving as the Deputy Chief Justice in Zanzibar, East Africa, which deepened his understanding of international legal frameworks and strengthened his global legal expertise and exposure.
Justice Oredola was a Justice of the Court of Appeal from 2008 until his retirement in 2019, during which he was renowned for delivering impartial, well researched, meticulous and principled judgments that significantly contributed to the jurisprudential landscape. He has been actively involved in legal education and advocacy, having published several papers on critical topical issues, including human rights, the burden of proof under Islamic Law, and various aspects of both Common Law and Sharia Law. These publications amply demonstrate his dedication to advancing the frontiers of legal knowledge.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. With Specialization in Islamic Law) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Bachelor of Laws (BL) Degree from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the same ABU., Zaria. Additionally, he has contributed to the Nigerian legal community by serving on several Election Petition Tribunals and at one point in time, as the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Kaduna Branch, Kaduna.
Justice Oredola gained recognition and is widely respected for his integrity, legal expertise, and commitment to justice. He is happily married and blessed with children. Also, he actively supports various community developmental initiatives, reflecting his personal commitment to service and community well-being. His hobbies include, reading, writing and travelling.
