Ibrahim Aminu Safana was born on 22 May 1971. Hailed from Katsina State, Safana Local Government Area. Attended Yusuf Dantsoho Primary School, Kaduna from 1976 to 1982 and Government Secondary School, Funtua, from 1983 to 1989. His quest for higher learning led him to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from 1990-1994, Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa 1995-1998, Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos 1998-2000, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi 1999-2001, University of Jos from 2006 to 2009, National Defence College Nigeria, 2023-2024, Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna 2023-2024. He acquired numerous certificates which include Diploma in Banking, National Diploma in Business Administration, Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management, Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and a Professional Certificate in Accountancy (ANAN) in 2000. He also holds Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master (MA) International Law and Diplomacy and a Master of Sciences (MSc) Security and Strategic Studies. Safana is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (fcna) and also a fellow of the prestigious National Defence College Nigeria (fdc).

    He began his career as a Legislative Attaché with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in 2001 before joining the Federal Capital Territory Administration in 2002. Between 2010-2015 he served the Katsina State Government as Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Commissioner for Environment as well as Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development. Joined the National Judicial Council in 2017 as Assistant Director and rose to the current rank of Acting Director Pension.
